Persistent LOCKs belonging to currently existing processes are best released by terminating those processes. Using the LKE command CLEAR with various qualifiers can clear LOCKs, but may cause the routines using the LOCKs to produce inappropriate results. The two most common reasons for persistent LOCKs are deadlocks and LOCKS held during operations that take indeterminate amounts of time.
