Managed Web Hosting

As your Web site becomes more critical to your success, availability, reliability, accessibility and security issues take on new meaning. Many companies find it difficult or cost prohibitive to perform the maintenance and infrastructure support required for 24-hour-a-day performance with existing personnel. As a result, they are choosing to outsource this function to a third-party Web hosting provider capable of performing complete managed services for their site. FIS, with almost four decades experience in managing information technology environments, can help.

Solutions

FIS' Managed Web Hosting services are offered in standard production environment solutions, each of which offers customization based on specific client need. The primary difference in offerings is in the level of network bandwidth, system redundancy and in the Service Level Agreement (SLA).

  • Base Solution - The Base Service Solution provides the core IT infrastructure and total system monitoring and management services needed for secure, reliable 24/7 operation.
  • High-Availability Solution - By providing duplicate switches, duplicate firewall appliances and duplicate Web/App/Database servers within a single Internet Data Center, the High Availability Solution offers a greater level of reliability and security.
  • Fail-Safe Solution - The Fail-Safe Solution is designed around geographically redundant system components integrated to provide the greatest level of reliability and ensure user accessibility.

FIS integrates all infrastructure components and information technology disciplines required for Internet business models to customize a solution that provides a measurable competitive advantage. By having the resources to handle all aspects of Web hosting – from application and Web site development to proactive management of infrastructure components required to reliably and securely deliver mission-critical Web-based applications – FIS provides a total solution for your Web-based needs.

Implementation

The process of implementation and integration provides the first opportunity for our clients to experience the expertise available from FIS and reinforces their decision to select us as their managed Web hosting provider. The techniques and processes employed during this process create a common understanding and appreciation of the respective roles of the client and of FIS resources.

Implementation Planning

The principle objective of the Implementation Planning phase is to put all the components into place for insuring a clear understanding of the project between FIS, the client and key project resources. In this first phase, implementation parameters are defined at a high level and turned over to the ATS Managed Web Hosting Operations/Implementation group for execution. This group has the responsibility of assigning a project manager who will be designated as the key contact for the client, FIS management, and project resources throughout the life of the implementation project. The project manager works closely with the client to define the project objective based on a preliminary review of the requirements that are provided by the client. Once the project objective has been defined through several documents, these documents are reviewed and updated for signed approval by the project sponsor, client, FIS management and key project resources.

Analysis and Design

The principal objective of the Analysis and Design phase is to define the work criteria for the activities and tasks that will be associated with the building of an environment for hosting a client's applications.

Build/Test Environment

The primary objective of the Build/Test Environment phase is to execute the plan as developed in the Design phase. Utilizing the diverse technical resources available at FIS and working in conjunction with representatives from the client organization, the production environment is built out and tested.

Transition Environment

The primary objective of the Transition Environment phase is to review documentation procedures and processes to ensure production readiness and to prepare the environment for turnover to Enterprise Control Center (ECC) technical resources for implementation and execution of 24/7 managed operations.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do managed Web hosting services differ from collocation services?
Collocation service providers offer clients a place to house their servers – a secure, physical facility with backup power and connections to the Internet. There is little problem management, ongoing maintenance, troubleshooting or ongoing technical support in the initial server configuration. These service providers simply perform a repetitive test to make sure the servers are running and notify the client if the server fails.

In contrast, FIS Managed Web Hosting provides all the services associated with collocation, but goes beyond the simple focus on space to a focus on service. Utilizing decades of operational experience in diverse information technology environments, FIS provides each Managed Web Hosting client with system review and design services to ensure the right architecture and implementation processes are in place to provide a secure, reliable operating environment. FIS provides turnkey Web hosting services from secure data center facilities to proactive 24/7 systemwide monitoring, security management, problem management, network management and ongoing maintenance of all hardware and software. With FIS, you no longer have to manage facility vendors, storage vendors, hardware vendors and internal management staff because FIS provides these services, and more, in one monthly fee.

How can FIS ensure continuation of our business services should our infrastructure be affected due to a catastrophic event?
FIS has industry-leading experience in the area of business continuity and disaster recovery. In fact, FIS has an entire business unit dedicated to research, development and implementation of the best tools and processes available to ensure its clients are prepared for any unplanned event.

How does FIS ensure business transactions on the Internet are secure and protected from intrusion?
FIS works closely with our clients to establish security policies based on their specific application and environment. Technicians in the FIS Command Center utilize industry-leading security management tools and disciplined processes to monitor all components of our customers' environment for known attack signatures and quickly respond to malicious attacks and intrusion attempts. FIS' security administrators perform daily reviews to investigate and respond to all suspicious activity and provide formal incident response assessments of events considered a medium- or high-severity incident. These daily reviews and attention to detail help ensure your data, and your company's image, are as safe as possible.

Does FIS offer financing or have other programs in place that can help us preserve capital for our most critical business needs?
FIS provides a number of options that can help reduce capital costs for its clients. Due to long-term established partnerships with industry-leading hardware/software providers, FIS can use its purchasing power to secure reduced pricing for clients. FIS' Managed Web Hosting solutions bundle hardware, operating software and 24/7 managed services into one low monthly fee, enabling clients to accurately manage fixed information technology costs. FIS evaluates existing client hardware resulting, in some instances, in an immediate capital infusion for clients to use in other critical areas.
